Um, okay. That book says not to look at a woman with lust or you will burn forever... I'm confused.

that book says not to look at a woman with lust if you are with another or if she is with another, it says nothing about desire.

Please, spare me. We know that thats not always the case. Especially in 2011. Looks like hell is going to be full because this jealous and understanding celestial entity loves us that much. Even though "he" hard-wired us to be this way. Just ask any priest.

ehh religion is way too complicated if you're not reading the bible literally. too many interpretations.

Religion is nonsense. If you cant read the "word of god" literally then whats the point? If only the religious can understand this then maybe we wouldnt have approximately 33,820 denominations with 3,445,000 congregations/churches and counting. What a wicked waste.

You know, I used to believe all those same things about Christianity, was a satan-worshipping metalhead and all that. As I grew older, and let go of hatred and anger, I began to research the teachings of many religions, starting mostly with Buddhism, but later Christianity. I realized that the core principals were intended to teach compassion for one another. Although many of these stories have been misconstrued or even re-written by utter psychopaths, the original intent is, in my opinion, completely valid.

No one can give you a "rulebook" to live your life by; no one is wrong or right; but having stories to guide us can help us make choices that lead us to happier lives. The bible contains good wisdom, but I will never cease to question everything I read. When people live to obey everything they hear, they can be easily manipulated- and this is where problems arise. How many have justified killing another human with the excuse that they were simply following orders?

(Intended to answer your question- "what is the point?")

I hope that was a joke. Check the dictionary and look up 'religious'. See atheist in there? Whould you call a person religious in "their own sense" while having a lack of belief in the supernatural or arbitrary claims? Tell that to the 7yo dead girl in Cali whos parents beat her to death with a metal rod because of that book.

Everyone has some kind of religious/spiritual sense and that has no relation to it whatsoever. People may shut this off or use it in their lives, that's their own choice.

If I had one wish, It would be for people to be able to distinguish the numinous from the supernatural. Whenever people have this centered feeling with nature religion hijackes it for some invisible sky-daddy. Then ask for money. If I created the Universe I'dīģŋ put my damn signature on it to avoid any confusion. E pur si muove!

that sounds incredibly sensible. I don't have a particular fondness of religion either. I have an uncanny need to believe in the supernatural, maybe it's because it makes my life interesting.

This is a very cool image. There are so many different ways, for me, to see this image. For me, one of the most glorious things in a work of art is to be able to see not only one concept but, the power of many concepts in the same image/subject. This is one of those great peaces that has the power to take you a thousand different directions. Thank you for sharing.
