PSP Wallpaper Curves

Created in photoshop, obvious inspiration from the PSP's own default curvy lines but I felt that most of the colour options were a bit crap especially the mustard yellow! So I created one I did like, albeit very different. I made several different colour variations, this being me favourite appearing like a flame. Others were multicolour strands and look cool, I may upload to my scraps at some point in time.

Nice Job! It definitely does remind me of a flame

by they way: If it's no trouble, How did you do that? I've been trying to get an effect like that, but it always ends up failing... miserably.

well, it's just a combination of layer styles, lines and mostly gradients. As with most images, the more you layer, the better the effect trial and error is the best way to acheive what your end goal is.

I love the smooth 'n' creamy feel to it.

Beautiful job!!!
Can I ask you how do you "illuminate" the lines?
I did try using the layer style; outer and inner glow and still could not resemble your work at all.
Just give a hint, if you will.
Thank you.

jonmusk In reply to Molotono [2008-11-25 13:11:42 +0000 UTC]

lol, well like I say you have to play around with the inner and outer glows, but apart from that try adding gradient maps and overlays and scene modes to it - building up the layers is the key. Hope that helps!

jonmusk In reply to GeologyNut [2008-11-25 13:16:53 +0000 UTC]

You're right actually, it does work well in Blue - and other colours too, a nice subtle purply colour works/purple blue. The orange flame colours though are nice and warm which is what I wanted when i made it.

Tiemen-S [2008-10-29 20:47:37 +0000 UTC]

Freakin' nice one! Even though you've used a smooth color fading effect in PS, you've avoided those color "levels" pretty well! (only on the right side beneath those lines you can see some of them, but maybe they are inevitable right there)

Way to go jonmusk !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jonmusk In reply to Tiemen-S [2008-11-25 13:21:24 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it's really hard to get it to be perfectly smoooth - thanks for the ompliments though, they don't really show up on the PSP thankfully, and it also depends slightly on the colour ranges you use, yellow/red/orange seem to have the widest range and so show less "levels"
