Someone requested a look at the Display Standard Mini's I do, the only example I had to hand was this Imperial Guardsman i was experimenting on.He was destined to be the leader of my Necro' gang but now I'm not so sure - anyhoo, more about the mini.
I wanted to try a model that was really low saturation, and I don't think I've hit the nail quite righ there - I went for a different skin tone, something really pale, I used some blues and greys to do the shading and white for the highlights.
The base was real quick - just so I could get a photo of it. I probably spent about 4-5 hours in total (can't quite remember) Using bledning and shading throughout.

Skin tone is alil to pale, and possibly more shading in the crevis between his muscles etc etc, kindal ooks like hes made out of clay and the chain sword looks liek the base coat is showing through the paint.

Looks good from what I can see, but the skin is a little pale. I would just give his skin a brown ink wash to tone it down.

Normally I do a much warmer skinn tone on my models, check out the black templar seargent here: [link] as an example

I must be getting old but, I think a bit more of a close up shot would help. I am having a little trouble seeing it.

No, I'm not saying the photo sucks. But it looks like you have put a lot of detail in there, I would just love a close up shot. (Need to work on my wording in the future) Heh.

Everything looks really good. I'm not sure how I feel about the skin though. The color is fine but it almost feels a little flat compared to the rest of the model, perhaps its just the picture. I'd be interested to see more pics of this one if you do indeed take some.

hey thanks, yeah i think the skin is the weakest part. I was trying something new - i wamted something different to the standard very brown warm coloured skin i normally do. ill post some better pics later

Not so happy with the photo, It's got soe horrible blue glare to it - I'll reatke tonight uder different lighting conditions.
