Simplicity is a wonderful virtue, and I dare say that any addition of clouds in this shot would probably have been too much. One is rather able to appreciate the vastness and the grandeur of the plains and the mountains. The colours once again elevate the image and bring a coolness of the dawn forth.

I actually really like that gentle gradient across the sky. The emptiness gives a stark feel, and Death Valley is a stark place. It feels right, to me.
Your philosophy also is spot on, and I applaud that. All we have is what we are given, but what we are given is unique and useful, and to be valued.

Thank you! And it's important to understand that those who are perceived to have more skill in life may just have more luck instead, or that they simply put themselves out there more providing for more opportunities.

Although this stunning photograph in and of itself deserves a DD, the philosophy expressed in your comments field ALSO deserves a DD. Heartfelt congratulations.

Congratulations on the DD! Love this view of Death Valley, one usually doesn't get to see this detail expanse.

You may not like it because you didn't get clouds.
But I still find a unique serenity in the absence of such things in the sky. Gives it a crystal clear, open and inviting look.
If that can be said about Death Valley that is. lol
I've dabbled in photography a bit, but I know very little about doing it right other than find pretty thing > point camera > keep camera still > take photo > hope it turns out good.
Oh, and congratulations on the Daily Deviation by the way.

You are your greatest critic.
This goes for all artists of any type.
('Cept for the ones that think everything they do is perfect 100% of the time.)
Regardless. I only hope others will enjoy my work, even if I myself do not. I suppose that's the whole point of creating such things.
