Hey everyone here's my design for Shade the Echidna as she would appear in my comic Sonic Odyssey. I initially did a design that was a fusion of Shade and Julie Su for my universe: www.deviantart.com/jordango/ar… , the idea was to make Julie Su and Shade into a composite character since they fill similar roles. That still stands but I decided to change my approach to how to combine the two characters. Rather than just making the design a literal fusion of Julie Su and Shade, I decided to have it mainly be Shade's. Basically she has Shade's name, design and backstory but with Julie Su's personality, attitude, and evil sister.

Julia Su Aka Shade: Was once one of the leading members of the Nocturnous Clan alongside her sister Linda answering to their adopted father and leader of the Nocturnous Clan Imperator Ix, who personally trained them in the art of Nocturnous Combat. She's a tough tomboy with can be very stubborn and temperamental (much like Knuckles himself). She's very disciplined and somewhat noble with a strong sense of duty and incredibly loyal. She's also not afraid to stand up for what she thinks is right, she cares deeply about the well being of her people and believed their cause was noble due to her upbringing. She spent her whole life in the Twilight Cage so doesn't know a whole lot about the world outside of the Nocturnous' militaristic life style. She is skilled in the art of combat, stealth and high tech weaponry along with an implementation of different forms of trickery making her a powerful force to reckoned with. Her weapons and equipment consists of her high tech stealth suit that also increases her strength, her energy blades, collection of explosives, a blaster gun, and her warp belt that lets her teleport short distances.

She was born after the Echidnas were taken to Twilight Cage, she spent her early life as a street orphan alongside her sister Linda until they met Ix who becomes impressed with the skills they've developed from living on the streets prompting him to adopt and train them. Initially she would serve as a sort of rival to Knuckles while also spying on him and the Chaotix (coming to the conclusion that they were all clearly insane), but after she ends up interacting with Knuckles and the Chaotix some more she comes to realize that Ix isn't truly a good person and soon defects to Knuckles' side, while also developing feelings for Knuckles.
