It's a fantastic collection, and it serves to remind me that I take pictures but this site is full of people who make art. Remarkable.

To be honest I used to feel like that a lot. I'm not saying you are these things, but I personally used to be really lazy with my shots and I didn't know anything about composition. I bought a really expensive camera and thought that would fix everything. I came to a horrifying realization when it didn't. On that day my art made a transformation that changed everything. I got got really depressed but decided I was going to learn and push myself harder than I thought I could. I studied for hours, for weeks. Brian you have some much more potential than you think and I'm so sorry if you feel I'm lecturing you, but it breaks my heart to know that this hurt you. I feel all artists will go through something like this though. It is hard, and it sucks, and its toxic when looking at other peoples art makes you feel like that. I had to get off the internet for a few months at one point too. But you can create amazing things if you really want to. Your animal photos are beautiful. Your focus is spot on and you know how to pick out your subject and make it the star. You have a vision and I can see it. Everyone is at a different point in their art journey. Go at your pace ok? Sorry for getting all emotional and lecturey

Hey, that's really sweet. Thank you for your heartfelt response. To be honest, it's not that depressing--maybe I overstated that a bit. I think it's really amazing what a lot of the talented folks here can do. I understand what you mean about "knowing your tools" too. I believe that I have a pretty good eye and that I always have, but my knowledge of both my camera and overall photographic technique, along with both in-camera and external editing are definitely not what they could be. The truth of the matter is that I find going out in the woods and taking pictures therapeutic and it's something I've needed--a lot--lately. If I never get to be as good as, well, you, and some of the other artists here, well, I'm okay with that. Thanks again. Be well and have a good weekend.
