As the traveler stumbled through the woods, she came across a dilapidated structure. It wasn't hard to see that the house was on the verge of crumbling, yet it showed a certain....resilience. It was a very welcome blessing to find any kind of shelter after walking for so long.

She walked to the door, hanging on by only the bottom, rusted hinge. The twilight cast her shadow on the door, causing her to hesitate for a moment before realizing what it was. She had been walking for so long that it began to take a toll on her tiny body. But she had to get away, to escape the man that had been chasing her for what seemed like days. Every time she thought she was safe, she would hear something. Leaves rustling, or something move out of the corner of her eye. It was exhausting, being on-guard every minute of every day. Rest was the only thing she desired now.

She felt a cool sensation on her cheek as it began to rain. Scrambling to get under the overhang, the teenage girl made her way to the front entrance. Only darkness could be seen behind the crooked wooden door. Anything could be inside, but she wasn't worried about anything now. She gathered up all of her courage and pushed the door open.

It was too dark to see inside, and her eyes hadn't adjusted to the darkness. Had she waited a few seconds before wandering in, she may have seen me silently step out from behind the door.
