I happened upon this drawing and it evoked such emotion from me. To me, her expression in this drawing represents the pain, sadness, and torment that goes on inside of many women's heads as we attempt to reach that impossible standard of a sex symbol. Of course, things aren't how they used to be, but in some ways I think they're worse. I know that I've had so much trouble with body image and feeling like my self worth is based onΒ what I look like. This idea of sexiness only being based on physique and how much sexual energy you're exuding is simply ridiculous. It's a reminder of how far we, as a society, still have to go. Her expression represents the change we need to make.

Not just women, men have body image problems too; the standard is to be "manly" and msucular, and if you're too skinny or fat, you're being bullied for it. But I can imagine it's more hard for women, the media is full of this false body image ideals, representing as an oversexualised object, and make to think women they should be like that. And your statement is very true: you should make the change, and this change is to accept yourself and appreciate the true beauty you have. I struggle a lot to accept myself; I'm too skinny, I've been called worthless, and I can't seem to find any positive traits about me. But then my friends - the few I have - slaps me virtually and tells all the good things about me I can't find. Makes me think there's actually something to live for. Β

Gorgeous, if a bit melancholy.

She has a sad expression: almost as though she's wishing people would see beyond her pretty face.

Jessica Rabbit is like Marilyn Monroe, practically a sexist stereotype, with the role to be beautiful and idealized. I wanted to draw her something else than a pretty face with lust who is capable of much more.
