That's a point of view... Having this on my skin is disgusting to my mind, but everyone is free.

+ I don't like baseball or any ball sport.

I don't like sports either. I don't even like tattoos but I still think the design and the effects are cool.

Semi-Realistic. Not cool. And the success of this one is mainly due to it's DailyDeviation... Not quite deserved to my mind.

I don't even know if what I write can be understood as my english is bad..., but it doesn't matter

I strongly disagree with your statement "And the success of this one is mainly due to it's Daily Deviation."

Daily Deviations are chosen in part because the ARE a success already. The Artist has NOTHING to do with being chosen for a Daily Deviation.

This image IS a solid representation of the tattoo art form.

I disagree but no offense for the artist, I'm always too excessive in my "critics" ^^

A one word comment such as "Disgusting" is not a Critique.

It is a judgment.

An art critique is a detailed assessment of an image including technique. A critique is offered to the image's creator in order for the recipient to make improvements on future works.

While you say no offense is intended, would you say "that's Disgusting" to their face?

Dorshiffe In reply to Battledress [2011-12-13 02:18:01 +0000 UTC]

You are true, that's why I used " " but of course it's a judgement, only my point of view, I just wanted to tell what I felt while watching this. And the first english word I though about was "disgusting". Because you know I'm french and I can't speak a good english. But I've got nothing to critic, the reasons of my jugment are simple, I don't like baseball nor this kind of wounds simulation tatoos...

The matter is that I can't express widely my feelings concerning an art piece if I write in english, or even in french sometimes. So it often creates some arguments, even if I wasn't here to troll...

And then as I said I'm frequently a too much violent with my first comment when I don't like something.

Thank you for your very thoughtful reply.

It helps me understand your point of view - and I respect what you have written.
The longer reply is a good conversation and provides context to a single word comment.

It can be difficult to talk about art - even more so when translating into another language.

I totally agree on this one.

Most people say stuff such as "That arm looks like if he had some genetic problem" or "That's horrible" and then defend it by saying it's "art critique".

The only thing that comments such as those do is making artists depressed.

You gotta have a thick skin to be an artist... but keep the sensitive heart.

Tricky maneuver at best.

Indeed, because at the end, there as bad people as there are good people.

What's interesting in this thread is that the more I converse with the Poster, the more meaningful the conversation...

Sometimes it IS worth the effort to have a dialog.

Interesting. Well, there are people that have their ways to be and all.

Yes, I think so. Perhaps the person won't do that next time and think rationally for the artist's sake? Or not even comment if he/she/it doesn't enjoy the artwork (as he/she/it said, "I don't like tattoos". Then, why are you even commenting on a dA about a TATTOO design? Rather irrational, if you ask me).

Sincerely, the only emoticon there is in this deviation is the "fear" one our Poster put first. So...
