In short, I'm impressed. This is poised at a sweet spot between photorealism and something distinctly painting-like, which allows it to gain from both.
It's clear that you devoted a lot of time to the lighting, so I'll in turn dwell on that for a while. At deliberate risk of a pun, the light provides an excellent highlight for the details. All those spots of warm yellow light give Link's clothing a sense of solidity, especially playing across all the folds in his cap. His cap feels like something I could grasp. The sheen of light on the shield makes it look properly metallic.
The light radiating from Navi (who keeps tapping on the screen and saying, "Hey! Hey! Look!") interests me in large part because of that radiance around her. It would have been simple to render it as a flat blotch of color, but the way it appears here makes me imagine that they're walking through some foggy area, maybe strolling through the Lost Woods while Link refuses to ask for directions, and Navi's glow is lighting the mist around her.
Her glow both stands out against the other light and gives solidity to the details, particularly in Link's hair and the folds of his clothes just above the shield. The hair on her side, with the combination of her light and the slight messiness to it, looks more real and touchable to me. The hair on Link's left, in comparison, is neat enough for a Hyrule fashion magazine, but that also makes it flat.
There's no skimping I see in any detail here, and I see a lot of detail, down to fraying in the fabric. With things depicted as meticulously as they are, I can imagine the creak of the leather in the strap across Link's chest, and I can truly feel the weight of the shield. I don't see anything that was overlooked.
All that said, I do note that it's not terribly uncommon to find pictures of "so-and-so in a realistic style." Everyone's style is unique, though, so realism in itself is a minor detraction. I can take only slight issue with that part of the presentation when the rest works so well, so I chip off only a small piece of originality.
I find the impact something of a mix. Certainly, Link's expression suggests that someone has an appointment with pain. He might as well be saying, "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." His pose, though, doesn't show a great deal of action. He might be preparing for battle, but he doesn't appear to be bracing for it.
This is also why I take off a piece from vision. Some sort of conflict appears imminent, but not everything reflects it.
In short, again, I'm impressed. The technical execution is superbly refined and detailed. All that's lacking is agreement in the mood that Link's face and body suggest.

Link really is a bit of a pretty boy. Although I think part of the reason a lot of women cosplay him is to be substantially smaller than any given Ganondorf that shows up. That was one of my reasons, anyway.
