I experimented with purple in this design. My dad, who went to Catholic school as a child, told me that purple is the color of Christ's crucifixion, while green is the color of his resurrection. Hence, purple, green, and pink are the colors of Easter. I didn't want to include green, but purple fit well with the mood and the subject matter. This one is also entered in the Wacom "Good vs. Evil" competition.Based on El Greco's "Christ Carrying the Cross."
How does this compare with the original? I'd appreciate critiques or suggestions.

I love El Greco, a great mannerist! And I never knew that about the Easter colors...learn something new everyday.
Anywho, really my only problem with this is just the stark white of the hand. I know you're working off the original here, but I feel if you could dull that white on the hand just a little bit, then my focus would lie on the most important part of the picture, which I feel is the face.
Very nice otherwise.
