Description This piece is made out of sterling silver, brass, gold plated nuts and bolts. The piece is completely hand fabricated by myself except for the minature nuts and bolts. Rotating one gear will cause all of the other gears to move as well. This is one piece out of several gear related works.

This was a piece that I created for a Kickstarter project that I used to fund my Masters of Art Creative Project. The Kickstarter video can be viewed from a link on my website under the title "Steampunk ?" It is all the way at the bottom.

Looks like a symbol of a well-functioning society: "What concernes one of us - concernes us all!"

Wow, that's very pretty and I love that the parts actually interlock and move together. Well done!

Wow, thank you very much for the comment and feature. I really appreciate it. The functionality of the gears was really important to me with this piece and I have several more similar ideas in progress, now if only I could manage my time...

Ah yes, time... But worth it to do things "better" with attention to things like moving parts. So much more work, but it really sets it apart from the masses of glued-on gears

I couldn't have said it better. When I first started making SP jewelry I did what I think everyone else does and bought a bunch of old watch movements. After staring at them for hours, I decided that it wasn't enough to simply modify an existing item. As a trained jeweler, I knew I had to take it further. I have just scratched the surface of what I want to do with this, but I see glimmers of what it will be. *Josh steps down from his soapbox* Thanks again for the appreciation!

oh that's really fancy to look at. Awesome work

I'm wondering though. Where did you get the silver and other metal from? Like what kind of shops? Because I just have no idea where to look at.

Thank you. I purchase my metals from wholesale dealers that sell directly to jewelers. However, you can purchase sheet metal from all sorts of places, even eBay which is actually very competitively priced compared to the wholesale companies I work with. In addition to that you can find brass and copper sheet at local hardware stores such as lowes. To buy silver I suggest online or you could go to local family owned jewelry stores and tell them what you are interested in purchasing. They will make a profit off of what they sell to you, but you wouldn't have to buy online. Sometimes local universities will have metal avaiable to purchase as well. Hope this helped! Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!

They do indeed move. Ig you rotate one gear, the others will rotate as well. It was very important to me that the gears maintain their functionality. Though I must admit that this was a much harder task than I thought it would be. Thanks for the comment!
