Reminds me of the Alt-history ammonites from Dougal Dixon’s “Alternate Zoology”, where dinosaurs and such sea creatures didn’t go extinct .

Another prehistoric pokemon that creeps me out... then again things in the water creep me out in general.

Being part ROCK type, I'm perfectly fine with the design choice you made concerning the shell and beak.  This is not only a very strange prehistoric creature, but also a Pokemon, not a real animal from our world.   I think that this Omastar looks exactly as it should. Artistic interpretation is a personal preference, there is no right or wrong.

Nice. Omanyte and Omastar were going to be named after the snail in French.

Beautiful Sorta wish the others in the scene had different poses and the texture on the shell and beak honestly could be switched to more of a true to life texture from real world creatures that they share features with, namely the shell from sea snails and the beak from octopus, both of which are smooth with lines instead of pebble like bumps. The beak especially is extremely smooth on both squid and octopus while the snail shell is mostly smooth save for the texture caused by the growth lines along the shell. I suggest checking out images of both to get a good idea of the textures I'm talking about

Oh I know, I just decided I wanted to do a porus shell and beak and a design element, it wasnt due to lack of research

The texture of the shell surface leaves me a bit cold. Mollusks generally have growth-lines on their shells which add a certain texture, but the texture here is more like the carapace of an armadillo or the surface of a basketball. Sorry for hopefully constructive criticism but it just sort of hit a dissonant note with me as a big zoology nerd. It could be the periostracum though, as with the fuzzy nautilus and hairy snail.

It's fine, I knew that but I decided to do a porus feel as an artistic design, rather than lack of research

I am glad to hear that it was a conscious decision.
