Haha, yea i tried to omit them in photoshop but wasn't happy with the results. So they stayed. I love Rob's ink, i think it works well with his personality and look. Glad you clicked through, thanks for looking.

Personal preference i guess. At this time Rob would rather not have any full nudes on the internet. Glad you like the photo though!

I'm by no means an expert, but I really like the lighting in this and the way it plays off the model's body and muscles. He's obviously a gorgeous guy, but the shadows and light show off the muscles of his body to great effect. After three years, he's obviously trusting you and I can't wait to see what great photos you two colloborate on in the future!

Yes this type of lighting really helps define his muscles. Mine and Rob's professional work relationship has really blossomed and im thrilled with some of the work were doing. You can definitely expect a lot more coming in the very near future.

Damn, this one is gorgeous... those shadows really make this photo 'pop', they enhance the subtle curves and planes of his musculature nicely.

Thanks for looking and commenting. I have been experimenting with a beauty dish for several months now and love the contrasty pop that it gives. Definitely helps to show off his physique.

Very much so. I rather like photos that make use of shadows but all too often the photographer makes the contrast too stark between the light and dark and you end up losing a lot of detail. Not familiar with a 'beauty dish' though, what is that?

Yeah shadow play is very difficult to master but wonderful when executed properly. A beauty dish is a light modifier (like an umbrella or softbox) that looks like a large dish and creates wonderful donut shape catchlights in the models eyes. It creates very sharp contrasty light that is fun to play with but again very difficult to master.

I think it's great when you do a number of shoots with someone and their comfort level and trust builds to the point where you can do an artistic nude series like this, I think it came out very well and I'm sure he's pleased with the results.

JoshuaGagnon In reply to davidsobe [2013-09-06 03:43:31 +0000 UTC]
Yeah it's true. One of the great things about working with models is that for a couple of hours you work together to create something as priceless as art. Its an emotional process that takes dedication from both parties and when it's all over you part ways. When you get the chance to work with a model again and again its truly an experience, almost like a friend that you rarely see and yet you begin to learn what to expect from them and you build a comfort zone even though you may really know very little about the person. This series with Rob i feel is our best yet. Thanks for checking these out and commenting.
