Description when the gods catalogue the world
and look down upon creation
remembering for eternity
all the places and people and things
of mortal kind and acts of men
i humbly pray to be forgotten

let my body like a shadow slip between forever
and my pains pass along to the void
may the stirrings of my heart become dust
and the private moments never found
nor ever known to matter

let the silhouette of my goods only
be sustained
and only in the hearts of those who touched
let my sins concentrate
in the pooling of my self
and the ink of failure and evil vanish with me
so my name cannot be spoken
nor venerated nor hated
nor moved

when the gods shine light upon the world
i will seek the shadow
and when they bring truth to the cosmos
i remain a lie.
when they uplift all the souls
I will pray to remain
alone, amongst the rock and the rubble.

Forgiveness from divinity is not earned but
given freely of that which is our better
and i choose to refuse such a gift
judging myself in the place of the gods
sentenced to be forgotten for all time
let me pass away in peace
and these words be written

on the surface of the waters
rippling for a pregnant moment
and echoing to nothing
with no trace left
of imperfection
