Description Salazar Slytherin x Rowena Ravenclaw

dialogue drabble

« Where are you going ? »

« Spain. I have acquaintances in Andalusia, I´m sure the rumors didn´t make it that far »

« We´ll go with you. »

« No ! That´s out of question »

« Salazar, you´re my husband ! We´re a family ! Helena and I will go wherever you go. »

« Rowena, that´s nonsense ! »

« Nonsense ? To be by my husband´s side is nonsense ? »

« You have to think of Helena. What kind of life will she have if the two of you follow me ? »

« You´re her father ! She can´t grow up away from you ! »

« It´s exactly because I´m her father that I cannot let you two come with me. Can you even imagine what will be of Helena, being the daughter of Salazar Slytherin, a banned man ? »

« We can still prove your innocence ! »

« There´s no use. Nobody will ever believe my word of Godric´s. »

« I´m sure we can talk some sense into him. He can´t surely believe that you... »

« You don´t get it, Rowena ? He knows it´s not true ! He just doesn´t care ! Godric wanted to get rid of me and now he got his chance»

« I can´t believe you can think such a thing of Godric »

« Oh, Rowena...if you knew half of it... »

« Then tell me ! »

« Rowena it´s enough ! … I´ll write. I promise  we´ll be together again...soon »

« And while that doesn´t happen ? What do I tell Helena ? »

« Listen, Rowena...There is something I need to ask you....About Helena. »

« Yes ? »

« She needs to be Helena Ravenclaw from now on... »

« You can´t possibly mean that»

« The name Slytherin is only going to bring her shame and humiliation. People will say things about me...things that you and I know are not true, but everyone will believe them anyway. You must promise me you will protect Helena. »

« By taking her father away from her  ? Not only you leave us,  I have to act as if you don´t exist ? Salazar your daughter loves you, it´s enough that she will have to listen to all those lies about you...you expect me to just pretend it´s all true ? »

« I´m not asking you to do that. All I want is that...whatever it is that is said about me...that Helena doesn´t have to be known as the child of the 'banned' founder. One day she will be old enough to understand, but not now »

« And pray tell what should I tell her when she asks about her father ? »

« Tell her the truth. That I love you and I love her more than anything, and I always will...but I´ve made mistakes, and I had to leave. Not because I wanted, but because I had to. »

« She´ll never forgive me for letting you go »

«Rowena... You´re her mother. She´ll always love and respect you, no matter what. Trust me...all of this...it will pass. I promise you. One day...I´ll be back to you and Helena. One day we´ll be a family again.»

I thought I'm the only person who actually thinks this is a legit pairing (including Helena being a daughter of Salazar).
This is amazing! Well done.

Oh, you´re definetly NOT the only one. I always tought Helena had many Slytherin characteristics! Besides I just don´t get how so many people seem to ship Rowena x Godric. There´s no way an intellectual like Rowena would go for the sword-wielding action hero, of course she´d prefer guys who were intellectualy challenging and interesting...and that´s Salazar to a t. Another thing is that I was always suspicious about Salazar is being "evil"...sounds too much like Gryffindor propaganda to me

That's what I mean. I just don't see how Rowena would find anything (from a romantic point of view) in Godric that could impress her so much. Salazar is indeed more of a challenge for her and I've never seen him as generally 'evil'.

Wonderful and also very sad, when you think about what happened in the end. I've also wondered about Helga Hufflepuff's role in the rift (she was Rowena's best friend). As a peace maker by nature, having Slytherin leave Hogwarts must have been crushing for her.

Yeah, to think Salazar was banned forever and how Helena ended up, really makes this little drabble sadThe thing about the founders generation is that we don´t know much about them so the possibilities are endless...and I always wondered about Helena...she seemed very Slytherin-like for a Ravenclaw...with her ambition and the obviously strained relationship with her mother. So I kinna went with it and made her Salazar´s kid (also taking advantage of the fact that Ravenclaw and Slytherin are "sister houses")using his banning as an explanation for her issues with her mother. I never quite bought the whole "salazar was an evil supremacist so the other founders banned him"...if he was friends with them they had to have noticed something wrong with him before that, biggots are not exactly discreet...And we hear a lot about Godric and Salazar feuding but Rowena and Helga are never mentioned...so I wondered if there was something else there. Maybe Godric wasn´t the great guy people imagine him to be? Maybe there was more drama among the founders than the "official" Hogwarts History lets us know?

I need to write some Helena x Bloody Baron too

(Oh, dear...SeverusxEvelyn, SalazarxRowena and BloodyxBaron...I sure ship Slytherclaw )

O.K.--Madame Psychic--two days ago I wrote a story where James Potter's father tells him the story of the Four Founders. He tells it from a Gryffindor p.o.v. (naturally). I'll be posting soon--just working out a few edits.

YOU´RE EFFING KIDDING ME?!

can´t wait to compare your headcanon on the founders with mine!

Haha--actually it is from the "headcanon" of Henry Potter (James' father). I was just going to call him Mr. Potter, but in my mind James was very close to his parents, particularly his Gryffindor father. Also, Harry is a diminutive form of Henry, so it made sense.

He tells the story form a Gryffindor or JKR point of view. I get the feeling that JKR just didn't care very much for Slytherin and its founder, although she did sort of make up for that by making it Merlin's House on Pottermore. Anyway, I was reading "The Prince's Tale" the other night and noticed that the three boys on the train already have firmly pre-conceived ideas about Gryffindor and Slytherin. It would have to come from their families. Severus is proud of his family's Slytherin roots, Sirius wants nothing to do with them and James is all Gryffindor pwns everything. The thing that is giving me trouble is the story's title!

Speaking of the Potters, wasn´t James mother a member of the Black family? Talk about glass houses Fun fact: in my headcanon Harry is the name of Lily´s dad

I totally agree with you about the JKR/Gryffindor point of view. Gryffindor just seems to be favoured by everyone in-canon and outside canon. It´s annoying, because the whole series has this "aura" of being about anti bullying and anti-prejudice and yet we have the whole "Gryffindors are awesome and Slytherins are evil" and bullies getting away with their behaviour as long as they are in the "right" house.Basically if you´re a Gryffindor you can do no wrong. That sucks! It´s one of the reasons why the whole Salazar being evil thing always rubbed me the wrong way. History is written by the victorious. Godric won his feud with Salazar, hence we get his version of the events to be the "official" one...But what if this version was not true? What if Salazar hadn´t been evil, but had simply been in the loosing end of a power dispute? Whic is what happens in my SalazatxRowena headcanon. In my story Salazar is part Spanish and has very different views of magic and teaching compared with the other founders(he´s drawn to the Dark arts, and while not a supremacist he IS more demanding of muggleborn and half-blood students)...he´s also ambitious, paranoid and sttuborn, but essentially a decent man, husband and father. Things between him and Godric go sour for many reasons (including Godric´s own ambitions and hybris) and the rest is history...I just wanted to nuance the portrait of the founders a little more because unlike what JKR seems to imply with her crazy house-system, nobody can be just labeled "good" or "evil"

As for titles...send me some spoilers by notes and maybe I can help you think about it

No one knows much about Harry's grandparents. On the Black family tree there is a Charlus Potter marrying a Doria Black, so a lot of people assume that they were James' parents. However one person pointed out that Charlus died young (for a wizard) whereas JKR said that James' parents were already old when he was born.

Just wait--I'll print my little ficlet and then JKR will post something different on Pottermore and send me back to the drawing board!

Oh, dear....Pottermore has been my worst fear lately! I hate to think Rowling will reveal something that forces me to re-do my headcanon (Like Severus Patronus for example...or AlSev´s house)
