So many things strange about this picture. First, it's Rune, but not sad and boyish like he usually is. There's an explanation for this (and not just because I wanted to draw him all bishy-like--although that may have been a motivation ^^) and it's that this is when he was human, before his time as an angel and then as an angel cast back down to Earth. (Of course, none of this makes sense because I haven't actually given an explanation for his backstory. Will do that soon. Characters are not really interesting until they have a personality and some backstory ^^) Okay, moving on, the second oddity is cel-style anime coloring, something I haven't done for... years? At least 2 or 3 years I think. O_O I kept subconsciously trying to decrease the brush hardness and having to stop myself. And thirdly, even though I was listening to that Franz Ferdinand song the entire time while working on this picture, I somehow forgot to make it nighttime. ^^

I'm not sure how much I like this, since my cel shading definitely needs some work, but it was pretty fun all the same. A photo reference was used for the shirt, but it probably screwed with me more than it helped since the ref light source and mine were totally different.

Oh yeah, and I'm back from NYC. Will journal in detail about that soon, but it was superbly awesome! XD XD
