Many people also hate and fear clowns, spiders, rats, snakes - the list is endless. While everybody has the right to not be subjected to things that upset them, these are things considered acceptable by society at large, just not in certain settings (e.g. in your own house). There are no mature content filters on these, not on the internet, and not in real life. Likewise, while "angry parents who hate scary costumes" can opt to not have these things in their home, they don't cover their children's eyes until they're 18 every time an image of one pops up somewhere.
I don't mean to be insensitive - I hate clowns, and fear spiders - but on the internet there is a "close" button just so that you can turn away from those things you don't like. There is a difference between not liking something, and deciding it is unfit for somebody to see until they are 18.
