New Zeland has no army we just have meca's! Also you say this character is based on a bird in maori mythology. Well just about every native bird in New Zealand has a place in it's mythology, but I remember one myth I got told in school about a monster bird that preyed on humans untila clever hero lured it into a wooden cage and stabbed it to death.

yeah this culture is so fascinating... I worked on just for some weaks years ago and it was like a journey over there.
Actualy I didn't know about the bird and hero story. But I remember there was a story with a crane (or a close bird) which my character is based on.
Ha I hope to come in New Zealand for real some day...

Just about every bird in New Zealand has appeared in it's mythology. Well if you do manage to come I recomend a trip to Rotorua, it's like the hub of maori culture famous for it's boiling mud and geothermal activity.

Actualy, the character is based on a bird which appears in Maori legends (I don't know if we can talk about mythology ???).
The purpose was to use the maori tatoos as they use to do, that's to say following the shapes of the body. All that keeping the sturdiness of the men with something organic for meca since the maori belief is very close to the nature.
Now I must recognize it's not particularly obvious. ^^

I think I understand. It was more that as a New Zealander it looks more Native American to me than Maori. Then again, there's a lot to Maori mythology so I'm probably wrong. Didn't know about the bird.

well... hmm... I worked on this character a long time ago and i didn't wanted to spend time on the background. and if you were thinking of a kind of tatoo design, maybe it would work in few transparency in order to keep the character "over" the background.
but I know i'm not good in background and i have to improve myself in it.

yes I think so. I didn't really knew Bionicle Lego product so I search some features to see what it's look like ^^. Then if you think you can do such a things with bionicle... Why not I'll be curious to see what it will look like. But do something good!!
