Abelard moves at the last second, protecting Kattei from the hail of laser fire. The young human had a bad feeling ever since the powerful mafia family that ruled much of their sector of space's underworld called the junk smuggler in for a meeting she couldn't refuse. They made her an offer, work for them paying an exorbitant amount of her earnings for 'protection' or be removed as competition. Valuing her work, she refused and nearly paid the consequences. The hit squad sent to kill her look on in shock as their weapons bounce harmlessly off Abelard's back, the look of rage growing in his eyes each second they try to kill the woman who rescued him from the blasted remains of U6 Earth...
