I used MS Paint for this entire project.I've been going STEAMPUNK CRAZY lately. I can't get enough of it...so I made a pony!
The factory kinda brings the picture down a little, but it's supposed to be industrial. I didn't spend as much time on the factory as I did the pony, but if worst comes to worst I can always just erase the factory and have an open spot for something else.
UPDATED:
I totally steampunked the factory up. It's now in line with a more regular steampunk kind of place (brick, mortar, copper, gears etc...)
This picture is complete! (unless I want to fix a little more up or something)

Added more detail to shadowing at factory, added a door to the house, added shadowing from house.
--I've decided to name him Zahnradbein, or Gear Leg.

The only thing better than steampunk is ponies, and the only thing better than ponies is steampunk ponies. 
I can see a steampunk version of Equestria working because it seems to be retrospective anyway. It jumps in history (medieval, wild west, modern, etc) so there might very well be a steampunk town in Equestria.

MS Paint? O_O
The only thing I manage with MS Paint is throwing my mouse at the monitor.

I try to avoid throwing my mouse at my screen, it's broken once before and my insurance on this has run out...
Actually ya, Everything I've posted in here (except my actual drawings) were done in MS Paint. It takes some time, and it doesn't have neat fading features like other programs, but it works and it's free.

Impressive work, especially since you made this image using only MS Paint. The top hat always makes the steampunk gentleman. The steam-powered mechanical leg is pretty interesting, too. I have an OC pony who has mechanical forelegs, too, but hers are clockwork and powered by magic. [link]
