I gotta confess, iI'e never seen this version of the spectre before. I'm gonna guess his design is based off of Superman the way the original is based off of the Green Lantern. So does that mean you see him with a blue body suit?

Hey psion,
I am working on a fanfic which is basically a DC version of Marvel's Exiles. This is one of the characters that someone I work with proposed. It would have taken place when Superman was killed by Doomsday. The Spectre would take over the body Superman and subsequently be driven mad by the power.
The cape and hood I would like to see as blood-red. The symbol would borrow from the Alex Ross work and be a red 'S' on a black background. The Spectre's body should remain white. I was thinking it would be cool if the white had an almost ethereal glow, epecially where the light hits it most. The background would simply be black, maybe with a subtle halo around the Spectre, but I would leave that to you. Hope that helps.

if you want to try one where you give him a black body suit, that would be cool. I just thought he would look cool with white skin, along with that Photoshop glow off his body to give him an ethereal look.

Yup, Sorry that wasn't clear. It's funny how it looks so clear in my head that I never considered how other people might interpret it. Thanks again for showing an interest. Can't wait to see more of your work, 'fatty' and 'wyrmling' are excellent.

Sorry for all the meddling. I like the glow off the 'S' shield BTW. I think it might look cool, though if they were more like scars which are glowing rather than streaks of lights. Just a thought.

No worries, input is good, and this is a learning process for me as much as it is anything. This is the first thing I've colored that the linework wasn't a photoshop layer by itself. usually I just paint behind the linework, sort of like they do for animation. It took me most of last night to figure out a good way to paint on top of this one instead.
I do like the scar idea. It's going to be a bit tricky to pull off, but I'm down for a good challenge.

That's looking pretty good. I know it's a WIP, but I think it's really coming along. The only suggestions I would make are to make the eye-glow more subtle along with the mouth. I never thought about it, but blue works. And i like the extra depth of shading on the body, but if you wanted to try it, it would be cool to see one where the light itself seemed to come from the body, like some of the Alex Ross work on the character. It would make any place that light hit the Spectre's body almost glow. Anyhoo, I like it and I can't wait to see what you come up with.

He doesn't wear a body suit. The entire body and face should be white. I realize he's asexual, but it's comics, I didn't want him covering himself with a cape the whole time. Hope that clears it up.

dude that's a nice drawing, it would be pretty easy to shade too, I'm busy right now, when I get done with the collab I'm already working on I'll see what I can do, if you want to see an example of my CG check my gallery.
