In summary "Garviel Loken" was the captain of the XVI Legion of the "Lunawolfes" during the events of the Great Galactic Crusade, The brave captain Loken was recruited from the mining planet of "Cthonia" where the Primarch "Horus" was discovered by chance.
When he was turned into an Astarte super-soldier, Loken had calm, silent and very thoughtful qualities of a great warrior who complemented his training by reading writings of the "Remembrancer" (normal men and women who accompany the Emperor's legions to record the most important events of the Crusade through the visual arts.) ; Captain Loken became a great friend of the "Remembrancers" and defended them when they were threatened for criticizing other Astartes. 🎨
Everything changed when the Primarch "Horus" was mortally wounded in the battle of Davin's moon, the poison that spread through the Primarch's bloodstream was of a demonic nature and the legion's apothecary could not heal him, in the midst of the desperation was the chaplain "Erebus" (The first damned heretic) who proposed a sorcery ritual to cure the sick Primarch, achieving the impossible "Horus" resurrected but something changed inside him and the captain "Garviel Loken" his closest adviser who opposed the ritual of "Erebus" lost the favor of his Primarch. (The demons made a pact with Horus) 😈
When "Horus" began his heresy he secretly sent Captain "Garviel Loken" along with loyal elements of his legion on a mission to reconquer the remote planet of "Istvaan III"; The massacre that was orchestrated with the "Life-Eater virus" caused the fateful death of 8 billion humans in the first bombardment. Fortunately, the timely intervention of Captain "Saul Tarvitz" of the Emperor's sons managed to save the lives of his sister legions, including the surprised and devastated "Garviel Loken" who took refuge in the underground bunkers. (In parallel the "Remembrancer" Loken's dear friends were killed inside the ships by orders of Horus.) 😭
As the legions loyal to the Emperor emerged from the ruins and fire of "Istvaan III" the captains of each company realized that they had been put on trial and left to die with no chance of escape; “Saul Tarvitz” and “Garviel Loken” took the leadership of their respective legions starting a war they could not win but would hold out long enough with subversive tactics, weapon theft and fortress outflanking.
In the last days of the battle of "Istvaan III" the captain "Garviel Loken" led the "luna wolfes" who adopted their old loyal name against "the sons of Horus" in a sign of rupture against their Primarch, The final duel of captains was decided between “Garviel Loken” by the luna wolfes vs “Abaddon” of the sons of Horus former battle brother and rival in the council of the Primarch; The fight was bloody but "Abaddon" was victorious, leaving a wounded Loken under the ruins that collapsed with one last orbital bombardment. (The loyal Luna Wolves legion had died.) 😢
In the seven years of the Horus Heresy Captain Loken's tenacity and traumas allowed him to survive daemons as traitors and as the last lunawolf of a phantom legion he was presented with the highest honors in defense of the Emperor. In the final war the last wolf lost his fear of the past and faced the betrayal of his brothers and genetic father for the last time. 🐺 ⚔
