A head canon I have is that Onyx is highly interested in Cinnabar. This is because the red gem has an untapped power within him. And power is what Onyx seeks greatly, to become invincible so that he can rule. He's quite tall as well, almost seven feet tall, and rather a grump too. However Cinnabar so pure hearted can't help but be kind to him. However such expressions make him a bit too trusting, and that can easily lead him into trouble.
