The dance is over, music ceased,
Last bows taken, tired feet,
Patrons leaving, darkened street,
Winter’s frost, cold and sleet,

Yet on the floor, one lone dancer,
One last sway, a gentle manner,
The question raised, without an answer,
Left forlorn, by sweet enchanter,

Honeyed words, the tone romantic,
To heart and mind, access granted,
With grace and charm, the seed was planted,
Left a dazed, by her enchantment,

And so he treads, into the night,
Full moon glowing, soft with light,
Sidewalks covered, snow and quiet,
North wind blowing, Jack’s chill bite,
