Well. I did finish with the harder 3D animation exam, where we had to animate the character we've built in Maya. While taking a break, I was thinking of trying to recreate an actual model for a bit. In this case, Violet Beauregarde's Blueberry body from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).

There are many things to consider if I want to recreate a character's model. In that film, they used CGI to build the model on the second part of Violet's expansion, apply the textures and the clothing parts to make it look more realistic. Before that, they had to use an inflatable suit for the first part of the process, similar to what's been done for the classic 1971 film before using a styrofoam ball's halves to sandwich Denise Nickerson in between on the latter part of her blueberry transformation. They also had to record the scenes and expressions on a green screen, while the envirorment is added in behind. That's about as far as I can know about their process on creating those scenes from the film, so I better be checking further those making of videos of the film.

I'm not quite sure about the 3D software they used at the time, but it's good to give it a try eventually.
