It comes through wonderfully well in the illustration itself; amusingly Turin's expression almost seems to say "For ME?" and Beleg's almost seems to reply "Sure little buddy!"

Poor Túrin's probably not used to such niceties

Actually there is a line that always gets me in the Children of Húrin, after Túrin settles with the outlaws, when he starts remembering the flowers of Doriath... that was such a sad but lovely line!

 Indeed - Professor Tolkien, like any good writer, has a positive gift for the Telling Phrase! (I must admit that I very nearly did not make it through my first full reading of 'The Children of Hurin' because I knew what was coming and the language used made the tragedy even MORE tragic as it occurred before my eyes).
