Awful book(s), but this looks great. Very menacing.
The body seems a little open and unprotected though, for a war machine.

yeah, interesting character wasted on a sub-par novel for sure. Β Also, I painted this nearly 10 years ago... I wonder how different it would be if I did a new take on it!

Used your picture in a blog post about the book, I hope you don't mind. The cymek really looks more or less exactly how I imagined it while reading the book. Your other "Dune" themed art is awesome, too! Keep up the great work.

Here is the blog post (it's in German, sorry): weltentraeume.blogspot.de/2014…

Very impressive interpretation! There's very, very little pictures of Cymeks or Neo-Cymeks out there. Glad you made one that's quite awesome! Nice work

Great work! Really reminds me of the neo-cymeks. Though, since I got a creepy imagenation; I though they got spikes and had more of clusters. Like nightmare stuff.
But this is truly amazing!

awesome. Love dune, love this concept. I always pictured the brain in a protective yet clear canister where you can see it hanging on the underside... think b'omar monk spider droid from Return of the Jedi...

Very very cool. I love your interpretation of the cymek, although I have to be honest and say that I find it a little too clean in terms of the colour scheme (I\'ve always thought them to be darker looking) but overall its great. faved

Which Cymek is this?

The brain canister is there, look closely.
It's a generic Cymek, it is not one of the Titans.

great work

Basically the Cymeks are meant to be the main antagonists of the Dune universe during the Butlerian Jihad... the Cymeks are robot forms that house human brains. The robot empire that the humans are fighting against comprises these, as well as numerous mindless drones. The guys who run the Cymek empire include Titans such as Agammenon, who are larger, much more menacing forms of the Cymeks. Incidentally, Agammenon is an ancestor of House Atreides...

How was the Butlerian Jyhad?
I read House Harkonnen but I was so disgusted I gave up reading the whole series written by Herbert's son and Anderson. I had already loathed another book written by the latter as it was, like House Harkonnen, a mere desperate attempt at filling pages with useless and long descriptions and poor dialogues, which was the exact opposite of Frank Herbert's work: only the very necessary descriptions and extremely deep dialogues...
I wonder if in other books like Butlerian Jyhad they did a more acceptable work
