hmm..hair...that's a tricky one. i usually build up in layers from light to dark, then erase out the highlights. i also use a smudge stick to make it more smooth. but every drawing is different and i might find another technique to work better. my one advice is to always follow the flow of the hair, never the opposite direction. hope that helps!

you did extremely well on this one. I couldn't say i could do better. The blending on the skin and glasses are excellent. The only suggestion I would take is to spend more time on hair (even though this is a big improvement over your others). Hair is usually the 2nd most critical point in portraits aside from the eyes. It is usually the most time consuming element in portraits as well. I would suggest using darker pencils in a softer grade preferably lead inserts to use in mechanical pencils.

i totally agree that hair is very important. i was actually not that pleased with it in this one over any of my others. i definitely have to work on that patience of mine lol.
