TOTAL HOURS: approx. 21 hoursTOOLS: Tablet, Photoshop
Original characters. Been working on this for a span of one week. This is one of those pieces that took longer than expected. I got a bit lost in details and was spending too much time trying to make the perspective work and fixing the railings (which still looks off and uneven.) And once again, Photoshop crashed while I was making final touches on some lighting and snow, so I had to do that part all over again.
I still had a good time painting this, and would do it again if I had to, only I would've split the figures and background into separate layers rather than flattening it early on.

Good god. It looks exactly like a cel from an anime series. Not one of those crappy ones but the good ones, where they pull out all the stops.

i think you did another great job. 20 hours does not seem like so much time to accomplish all of this. i love those architectural details. reminds me of Notre Dame with all the spires. ine of the best jobs of snow i've seen.

Haha, thank you, I was planning to finish a lot faster. I was thinking of Notre Dame too, but it's not based on any real architectures. My basic story here is that the guy had recently lost someone close in the family and didn't have anyone to talk to, until he met up with the acquainted girl.

for some reason the girl reminds me of your other pic "Here" [link] but when i go back and forth looking,... well maybe, i'm always trying to figure the story behind your pics. i think that's why i like them so much.... well that and you're such a excellent artist.
i really like the snow. i can imagine the number of layers involved.

Thanks, I like that you're trying to figure things out with my pics, and good observation, I was thinking about tying those two pictures together at the beginning! The snow didn't take a long time, I had a brush with few dots set to "Scattering" effect. Although, I did paint some individually to get it the way I wanted.

haha i thought it was maybe my imagination about the pics being tied together. is she like a character you have wandering around in your mind. okay that might of sounded a bit odd but i have a few that hang out in my head. i have storys that go with them but i don't believe i could ever write them.

I suppose she is! Sometimes I just get an image in my head, and would want to sketch it out. Creative writing is not my thing, I think I get an idea or story across better with a picture.

This really turned out great. I really love how the bg came out. the way the snow looks so soft and the bg seems to just continue to fade as you look at it.

Wonderful work, and I was going to say right off what a perfect job you did on the background. I can see why it took so long, the perspective looks like it took awhile.
I've gained a new appreciation for digital work having tried it myself only recently. I've always appreciated digital artists, but my respect for them has jumped by leaps and bounds, especially when I see something like this!

Yes, I can imagine what a pain that type of railing was to do - simple vertical pickets aren't that difficult, but when you include an arch at the top there is a LOT more to consider.
