Seems that some of the works were deleted from search right before the semi-finalists were announsed...yours and some others are just dissapeared from search for few days.

OlchaS tried to contact with support, but they just sended her a formal reply kinda "you're not searching it right" and shared a link to an article about how the popular category works...sad and suspicious. And yep, she recieved an answer just right after the moment, when works returned to search and browsing like nothing happened.

ya, contest results are usually based on the what the contest host wants (they're funding the prizes after all) - whether it's fair or not is debatable
there's always that risk when participating in one

I'm not really blaming the judges, cause in fact it seems that they just didn't see all submitted works at all cause of this "search and browsing disappearance" issue(

we don't really know what happens behind the scenes either
it's possible that the dA judges were using something else to view entries, because you could still edit the image file after you made a contest submission (even after the deadline)
let's say the dA judges were using the public 'submitted works' gallery
I could have submitted a blank white image and changed it to an actual character image after the deadline passed
from their point of view, it looks like I submitted the full image on time
which isn't the case
to make sure they would only see valid entries, they probably used some other kind of image browser or internal viewer

yeah I'm not sure if I'll be able to repeat this colouring style in the future - it's very time-consuming getting the airbrushing right x)

I think even at my current level I'm still not good enough - a lot of the other entries look amazing * -*
