Description Cancer is a nasty disease. It eats you away from the inside, spreading through you until there is no more.

Do yourselves and your family a favor - don't smoke.

EDIT: Just thought I'd throw this in here; The hand belongs to my mother who is dying from lung cancer.
She's 58.

2ndEdit: My mom passed away Oct 16th. [link] [link]

You'll be missed mom.

May I feature this piece in a journal I am doing in regards to lung cancer awareness month? My Aunt is fighting lung cancer and I would like to honor her with a journal stating the facts that she fights every day to be heard.

It's creepy how identical this looks to how my grandmother's hands looked.. It looks like she was the one who was photographed. She passed away on October 5th due to lung cancer spreading to her brain... It's been a little over 3 weeks and I miss her like crazy. Beautiful shot.

I had to favorite. My dad's dying of mouth and throat cancer, he's only 41. It's from smoking, drinking, and working in a foundry for so long. I love him to pieces, but I can't help but wonder what he would be like if he'd never picked up a cigarette. Anyway, this is an amazing piece, although it's sad for me 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

I'll hope you'll find the strenght to go on in life.

Brother,

I'm so very sorry for you and your family's loss. Reading the other messages posted here must be very comforting to you knowing you and your loved ones are being thought about so lovingly.

I came across something that really moved me during a few tough times in my life. I think the sentiment expresses the comfort I hope you find as your heart and spirit heal:

Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonged to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. he noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that at the worst times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. How could you leave me when I needed you the most?"
The Lord replied " My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of suffering and when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You."

Take care and God Bless you and yours.

Terribly sorry to hear about your mom; you have my condolences. 58 is far, far too young.

It's so hard to quit smoking because it is addictive. I once read that the average number of attempts it takes to stop for good is seven, so don't be too hard on her for not being able to give it up. As the saying goes, hate the sin, not the sinner.

Very sad to hear man, my condolences to you and to your family. My dad passed away at 47, not from cancer, even if he had been smoking since he was 13... a weird brain infection took him away froim me.

I know how sad and strong feeling it is loosing a so close person.

By the way I have to thank you, I have quit smoking two months ago but had a weakness moment couple days ago and smoked again, then i saw this... you have just reinforced my decision.
