What immediately stood out to me is simply how unique this plant is. When browsing close-up shots of plants, I always see either lively, colorful captures of verdant plants, or their dried-up remains in the winter time. You have managed to get a shot in which both elements are present, with what looks to be the dead curled branch wrapping around the freshly budding one. Also, the buds themselves are eye-catching: I do not believe I have ever seen furry buds like those before.
The only thing I might dislike is just how much empty space there is in the photo. The flesh color of the background plays nicely with the gray tufts. However, it feels like all the weight of the photo is in the left half, with the right half not quite balancing it out. This is pretty minor, though. On the whole, I think this is a wonderful photograph.
