If the answer to this should be obvious then please, forgive my ignorance, but, is this a digital painting? If so what program? I am trying my hand with digital art and am lost in a sea of program options. Thank you.

Yeah it is. Photoshop CS5 all the way. I use it for all my 2d artworks. And an Intuos3 a4. Thanks for asking

Damn... I don't even know where to start with CS5. I am both highly motivated and simultaneously discouraged by the jealousy inspired by your work. Good stuff

Well, I just mostly use just the paintbrush and a couple of layers (lineart and colors) and a few custom brushes for the skin textures. But that's about it. A lot of times I just paint that stuff on one layer. I don't consider myself a very technical person anyway. Honestly, most of this stuff is about the traditional, classical drawing & painting skills.

Thanks, I will! I just found out about this site yesterday and I think it's brillent. Being able to talk with professionals like this is very encouraging. I'm transferring to The Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland this fall to study illustration. You are currently doing very much what I want to do, so this site is really cool.

man o.o i have no idea how you made the umbilical chord look like if it was a transparency with falloff, but you really nailed it! man you could do a tutorial for achieving that effect!
