oh man. I've reread this comic.
Please draw more comics! They are really amazing! Not only the drawings, but also all those texts make it all really intense!
Never give up in what you're doing!

Fear not! I'll keep at it -- there are many in the planning/sketch stage ..... I just need to find the time to squeeze them in. One chapter of "Fiona" for example, is about 2-3 weeks of solid work, full time. I'll get back to her when I finish the animated trailer ...... I'll put some screenshots up from that in the next few days.

Hi Nikko, glad you liked it!
Do you know how to use Photoshop? I can send you the psd files if so,
that way you could insert the translation as needed.

An excellent work; even if the format of two duels has been used before, there were enough DEVIATIONS from the usual script to make this a unique story. The genius touch was the crowd participation by touching the lifted up corps of Jessika in the small arena. The winner is showing her biceps, but the unblemished body of the loser (death by neck break) is receiving TOUCHING applause... The last two plates remit us to Β«business as usualΒ» in the arena, in which we may hope for a sequel.

Glad you liked it, and got into the true spirit of things! There'll be more work later in the year -- but I'm sinking a LOT of time and money into new computer/new programs/new 3D models. It'll be worth it when the sequel arrives!!

julianapostata In reply to profetizo [2011-04-28 01:28:48 +0000 UTC]
Oh yes!! Much more is planned. You won't believe the level of detail in the next series, "Gladiatrix Locusta".
Right now I'm modeling in 3D, building new environments and backgrounds for the cartoons. We'll be seeing a lot more of the imagined amazon world "Hera", and I have to create it in 3D (using Google's free app 'sketchup', which is great). One of the largest models is the capital city, which is about the size of Ancient Rome - so that's a lot of work. Right now, that's about half done. In addition, many temples and palaces, and enough regular houses to make it feel real to the eye. I'll start posting some of these preview renders once they're looking good. They'll whet your appetite!!
Another thing I probably will have to do is use Terragen (it's a landscape generator) - to create nice looking environments.
The new cartoon will really widen the scope of the action a bit, and show more of the planet.
I'm glad you like the work!!

I agree with Sports. A wonderful job and a great ending, with just a hint of what may be in store for the winner.
In a way I'm sad to see this chapter end.

I'm making one final tweak to the whole thing -- going over the early pages, and fixing lots of little -- and not so little -- things. A few faces, some backgrounds, making the speech bubbles consistent, that sort of thing.
The first 6 pages have been done so far (apart from the cover page). Anyone who has downloaded the images should grab the new ones as they're done.....the first 6 are a vast improvement already.
It's the nature of the project that you get better as you go along -- and I found some nice tweaks in Photoshop that really make life easier, but also change the visual style slightly. I was on hiatus for a while, but came back on page 38 -- and you can really see an improvement. So what I'm doing is making slight tweaks to make the first 37 pages match the final 20.
Don't worry, you won't see Jar Jar Binks in any of the shots.

Thanks! It's been fun, but it's also great to get it finished.
One last thing will be a final pass over the old pages to tweak a few things that have been bugging me ---- continuity, fonts, adding a few color touches....
