Description Another shot from my recent photoshoot with George. It was George's first session as a model, and she was absolutely brilliant: patient, engaged and really keen. As you can see, she is also totally gorgeous, which is always a plus! More shots from the session will follow later...

===========

As always, I really welcome and appreciate constructive criticism, as I want to learn how to do better.

I made a few technical mistakes in this shoot, but I'll learn from them for next time...

Well, I think this is the best one yet!

As a natural light shot, I think it works well with the shadows, although a tiny bit of fill-light might not hurt. In fact, the amount is so tiny, you're probably better off locally dodging that portion than trying to mimic it with flash.

The glitter in the model's right eye is fantastic, I wish it could be replicated on the left eye also!

The watch fits perfectly, a productive departure from those many bracelets

You might want to try going for an out-of-focus look on anything other than the model's face by using some f1.8 thingy (I think you have a smc-A lens?)

But, posture and expression are top-notch, so I'm puzzled no one felt inclined to comment.

Best of luck!

Many thanks for the detailed and constructive feedback!

I would have used a little fill-in flash, but I had an equipment malfunction during this shoot, and had no available flash, except on-camera, which I am trying to avoid at the moment. Also, I shot this very late in the shoot, just as George was leaving, so it was pretty much point and click!

I'm pleased you liked the catch-light in the right eye. Next time I'll try for both eyes!

I just looked at the exif data for this shot (1/10 handheld at f4.5, 33mm), and I realised that I shot it using my kit 18-55mm zoom, rather than my 50mm prime. The kit lens will only open to f4.5 at 33mm, so that explains the dof issue. I don't know why I was using the wide angle zoom, as I shot most of the images that day using my 50mm prime, which will open to f1.7 (although the sweet spot is at f4, so I still shoot at that aperture a lot!).

I was very pleased with the shot, so I'm also a little puzzled that no-one else has commented, but your detailed critique makes up for that!

Best wishes!
