Description

The ancestral Atreides homeworld Caladan, later just called Dan, is a planet from Frank Herbert's Dune series. It is described as a green, oceanic world.

This fan 3D render of Caladan was created with blender Cycles. All textures were procedurally generated. The lighting of this planet is supposed to represent the actual lighting of Caladan based on given information and sense.

Caladan is the third planet of the Delta Pavonis star system. For this render, I assumed that Caladan is about as far away from its star than Earth is from our Sun. Delta Pavonis is a bit larger and brighter than our Sun, but not much, so I made Caladan a rather tropical world with lots of green and no polar ice caps, which seems to fit its description.
