Except for me it's always a Korean guy in a Japanese restaurant.
And because I took a one year class of Japanese, my dad always tell me to say this.

I have been trying to learn Japanese language for a few years now when I have the time and I wouldn't try speaking to someone in an Asian restaurant in Japanese in case it seems offensive...especially doing it in a NON-Japanese restaurant. [link]
