Heavy Spoilers for Code Veronica X
Steve Burnside get's captured, and and injected with the t- Veronica Virus, and Claire and Chris (at least in the Darkside Chronicles version) are forced to kill him, as he goes into a rampage. He was heavily in love with Claire, as she had developed some feelings for him as well.. It doesn't happen often, but when a Resident Evil character dies, it's always tragic. I think he had Steve upside down to mirror his decent into a monster, and ultimately die.

I love these games .........I still have my PS1 and still works with a lot of games including the original RE TRILOGY!!!.........and RE 0 and Remake in my Wii, RE 4, Code Veronica, Outbreak 1, 2 and Dead aim in my PS2!!
