I have to ask, why do so many people design alien life forms to look like this all the time? I know that they'd evolve differently to earth species but if some conditions were similiar surely species would look 'similiar' to species on earth.

Well my alien creatures often look like animals from earth because I'm really bad at creating truly alien creatures

Your alien creatures, are truly alien. You don't need to worry abut them looking too similiar to secieson Earth

The body looks perhaps too similar to a Terran tetrapod, but overall the creature looks great WhatΒ΄s the function of those "upper limbs"?

Thanks!
I really have no idea what they are used for. Maybe they are used for grooming or in courtship behavior.
