I never felt more so alone that day.

Brother, you had been my protector during all these years. You kept me safe, fed, and always guided me where I went wrong.

As I watched you die, translucent with energy, I realised in that instant that you were about to leave. About to leave just like father had, giving your life after defending the city.

I cried at the realisation but you took my hand in comfort. Without words you seemed to assure me that I will be all right, that I can be strong.

My brother, the Guardian of Alta Mare.

Even after humans had used you to increase their power, you kept faithful and believed that the majority were worth saving. Even as we hovered above the museum that night and saw the wave of water rushing back, you were willing to protect them.

We looked at each other, and we both knew that the city would never survive such a force. Most of its occupants would be killed in their sleep, defenseless save for you. You opened your mouth then, and said “like father”.

We worked together as one, but even with my help the effort was too much. You saved the humans' lives, at the cost of your own.

But you have one last gift to give us. You allowed us to watch as you rose into the sky. We saw our planet beneath us burst into light and form your Soul Dew. And as it fell softly into Bianca's hands it was if you were telling me, “it's going to be all right. I'm always going to watch over you.”

I had never been so proud, yet so saddened, my brother.

Many people in the city will never know of your selfless act, but I will remember. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Father had given his life for the humans, saving the town from that wicked trainer. He even brought water here so that it can remain beautiful forever. And now you are leaving us the the same way that he did, defending the city.

And as I write this down I sit in our garden, watching over the Soul Dew – all that remains of you. Even in death you watch over the city and keep it bountiful with water.

I vow to raise my children the same way that father raised us, my brother. I shall protect them, feed them, and guide them where they go wrong.

I speak, not only for myself by also for Bianca, Lorenzo, Ash, Brock, Misty, Pikachu, and my children when I say that we will miss you greatly. We will never forget the courage, or the selflessness that you showed. We say goodbye with sorrow in our hearts.
