EDIT Added a shadow beneath Annie. I dunno if painhorses have shadows but it looked weird otherwise. I'll remove it if *inglorious-vikings sais that Painhorses have no shadow.xD
And Jeez I can't believe that I forgot the white streaks in her mane and tail..*headdesk*

Allright. I injured my right hand (drawing hand) yesterday during training and it was really painful to finish this picture. For a few month now I'm doing Systema. It's a type of Russian Martial Arts like the Speznas are doing it. And we trained with knives yesterday. Blunt knives just to make this clear.xD And we should throw the knives in such a way that the others could catch them easily. I repeat again they were blunt. Like so blunt the only way you could hurt somebody with them is by hitting them over the head. And I (oh glorious why is it always mee? *sob*) cut myself two times right away.. I mean: REALLY??? With a blunt knife??? adjfasfhjdashj.. *lesigh*
But I managed to finish the picture, yay.xD

Rikke got up early at the morning of the competition. She has been restless the whole night long and had hardly found sleep. Sighing she staggered into the bathroom, took a shower and got dressed. After a few bites of toast for breakfast she went out into the yard of Troll Island Stable. The cold wind cut into her cheeks and Rikke pulled her parka tighter around her shoulders. The girl knew that the Painhorse had not spent the night in the stables. Annie disliked closed and narrow building or spaces. She rather spends her time outside under the light of the stars with the wind in her fur. Bad thing about this was that Rikke never knew where the mare was actually. The girl left the yard behind and walked into the open fields where she could see the pastures. A few horses were already grazing pecefully and when Rikke called out for Anny one of them raised its head curiously but turned back to the grass again when it could smell no enemy.' You're up very early, little one.' Rikke heard the mare's soft voice in her mind that made her smile. 'I couldn't sleep.' she thought and noticed the black mare coming through the trees of the sparse forest. Annie made a noise somewhat like a snort in Rikke's head and nudged the girl's shoulder when she finally approached her. 'Good Mornin' to you, too.' Rikke thought and patted the mare's neck. The both of them returned to the stable building where the girl groomed Annie until her fur was all shiny and clean. Her smoke wafted around them in pleasure. "You look so fragile, Annie." Rikke said with a small smile on her face, "Everytime you're running over the meadow I'm afraid you'd fall and break your neck." Again the girl heard something like a chuckle in her head. 'I'm already dead, remember?' the mare replied and tilted her head, her torquoise orb-like eyes glowing in the twilight of the morning. Rikke laughed and fastened the starting number on the rope she then put around Annie's neck. "That sounds really awful." Annie pawed with her cloven hooves on the loose earth. 'One gets used to it.' her voice was slightly defensive in the girl's head and Rikke thought it'd be better to let this topic rest for now. Annie nudged the thin rope with her head. 'What do we need this thing for? You can lead me with your thoughts, can't you?' Rikke smiled a bit at the slightly huffy tone and put the rope over Annie's shoulders that it hung loosely alongside her flanks. "I know that we don't need it but it's in the rules." she caressed the soft fur under the mare's chin then she slowly made her way towards the show arena. "And I'll tell you where to go without the rope, of course. It'd be boring otherwise." Rikke heard the horse chuckle silently and then the both of them waited until it was their turn. 'You look like a daredevil with that piece of wheat in you mouth.' Annie said in an amused tone and Rikke grinned when they entered the arena. "Exactly what I intended."
