aha. This really got my attention.
This winter I did three failed 'aintings' of just these same various sized little connecting circles. I just couldn't get them to be a single idea or 'complete'. I had reptilian creature going for a little bit but I ruinined him by not quitting. Maybe using them within something else like this is an option. (For awhile I was obsessed with doing little flattened circles on clay surfaces).
That same week, I did a series of mandala designs in colored pencil. lol
Anyways, it's a very interesting, colorful drawing and pleasing to look at.

Yep...it certainly was pleasing for me as well. I needed something quick in the middle of all the lengthy pieces....it certainly foreshadows a lot, as I look back....I'd love to see some of your mandalas and maybe discuss them more ...I'll see whats happening in your gallery, since it be so convenient...

I only made a collage of the 8 madala type drawings I made this past winter. They were not perfect enough to post large versions showing all my mistakes! There is a neat link to info on a madala project in the description of my deviation of them. Did you ever see that site?

Sure did The book that the site's author wrote is actually what got me interested in creating my first mandala about 6 years ago. I think if you look through their gallery of mandalas, you'll find one of mine- entitled," Circle Suite." It's also here on deviantart. Have you made any more mandalas since your winter works?

I admit I haven't looked deply into that site. It was really cool, I've meant to go back. The drawing was something to do while everyone was asleep and I was wide awake. After I came home I started in again on my ceramics. The designs are something I will probably re-visit when cold weather sets in.
I was totally adicted to my "Spirograph" toy as a child (ahem! I even bought another at a thrift store a couple years ago, lol).

I'm glad you get that....by maintaining that state while conceiving of and working on the piece, it hopefully gets infused w/ that vibe I'm holding. Its somewhere along the lines of "healing" or "therapeutic" art, but there's more to it....conceptually and historically to limit it to that. Still working on carving out a niche it'll all fit in

Thankyou for your uplifting comments

You're very welcome. I understand your point about 'staying in that feeling' whilst working on a piece with a particular mood. I try to do the same. I always have more than one of my.....errrr.......more unusual pics on the go..........for that reason.

I hear ya...I usually try to center and clear my mind before and while working on pieces. Trouble with that can be that the vibes will get so high sometimes that the prospect of going back to a piece is daunting, especially when I have any kind of ego thing like, "I want it to be good" or any number of variations on that.

When you talk of your more unusual pics...do you have any in your gallery?

With me it's a case of 'losing the feeling' for a piece, so I leave it until the mood comes back. There are a few like that in my gallery. It needs a bit of editing really.

Looks like it could be the tarot card "wheel of fortune".

melasdesign In reply to melasdesign [2006-08-21 19:57:30 +0000 UTC]

Usually a wheel of some sort is depicted, along with the number of the card (which I can't recall off of the top of my head. Possibly 7). It's been a while since I've touched a tarot deck. Depending on the deck, sometimes runic, i-ching and other mystic characters are incorporated into the design.

Sounds strange, but I had a severe miegraine last night, and the tunnels of aura that funneled out from my left eyes vision looked just like the bubbling coloured funnels extending from the centre of this pic! How bizarre -very lovely piece again

Lol...I hope it didn't trigger any residual-migraine memories.

Thanks for the love
