Thanks. I have a similar thought about shading the hair that way, but when I did, it seemed to blend too much into the shoulder and back, so I went with the version I have now. Maybe at a higher res or with different colors.

Being mindful of your color limitations goes a long way.
I know this is using like 8 colors, but the NES *can* do that if you're willing to use 3 palettes on one character. That might be stretching it, but one can dream.

Thanks. I'm not trying to use any specific limitations except to be as economical with my colors as possible in 32x32 sprite, but the NES is always an influence.
