Four-frame walk cycles for Masa and Sam who are 32 pixels tall give or take a few, so just about NES sprite size for a player character in a platformer like Simon’s Quest, albeit using the SMS palette.
If you’re trying your own, be sure to let your character bob a bit with each step and swing their shoulders at least a little.
