Here is a quick one before bed. Just messing around with some weird brushes, and trying out a few things. 1:30 - 2:00. I am trying to push myself out of b/w earlier on, and I think it is helping. It is still very obvious here, but I didnt get to treat alot of the painting to that. I hope you like, and please drop some critz and/or comments if you wish.Related content

i really love the glow! and the color scheme
you say you are trying to push yourself out of b/w earlier on? why do you want to do that? what is it helping? (im just curious since i start with b/w and would like to hear different methods - how it affects everything)

Thanks for the comments StingoRay8u. Yea, b/w can easily become a crutch, and eventually you will have to rely on it to get the results you want. But starting b/w limits how far you push your colors, and usually 80-90% of the time you can tell it was b/w first. If you paint straight colors, the paintings usually turn out richer and have a bit less of a grayish tone to them. There are advantages to both, since with b/w you can establish your values better and easier. Its all a personal preference though.

judging from the harfs angle and her dress she somehow doesnt match the backgrounds horizont position. if you get what im trying to say

I think you are correct. Something I need to work on is setting characters into a scene. Yea the mood was more or less the focus of it. It's been a while since I have done stuff like this. Thanks for the comments n crits man, I really appreciate it.

i like seeing a colored drawing of yours. (seeing as how you like the dark. ^^)
the color of the woman is so intense compared to the rest of the drawing. it gives her an eternal and ethereal feel. and if you look close enough, you feel as though something is forming in the background.
and although most of the colors are so dark, they contrast beautifully, making is peaceful and serene. awesome job, as always. ^_^

I like this a lot. Green and black are my two favourite colours, and here they are used well.

nice mood and composition, thumbs up! as if shes playing to keep the dark ominous surrounding her at bay.
maybe add an intense aura on her hair as if it's resonating the effects. it would also be cool to see a few creepy hands forming from those dark shapes and reacting to the spell being casted against them.

Thanks madazn, that would be cool. I tried throwing some doods in the foreground peaking through the bushes, but I didnt have the time to finish them up. Dark hands sounds like a way better option. After hearing your feedback I immediately see ways I could have pushed it further. Thanks again for your wonderful feedback.
