The first golden rays of the sun were peeking in the room, making her eyes flutter open and slightly squint at the brightness. Everything was quiet, saved for the soft and warm breaths she could feel on her neck. A fond smile curved her lips upwards. Her lover was finally getting enough rest. Wanting to avoid waking him, she tried to wriggle her escape from his tight embrace and failed miserably.

Telling by the way he was nuzzling her neck and bared shoulder, she knew he was barely stirring awake. She wanted to cherish and enjoy fleeting moments like these, as they both were too busy with their respective duties during the week. “Good morning…” His husky whisper tickled her ear.

She turned around to face him and cup his face in a tender gesture. He flashed her a sleepy smile. “Good morning, Hideyoshi…” Closing her eyes, she let herself relax completely in his arms. She relished his warmth, his strength. “You came back late yesterday… I waited for you, but I fell asleep I’m sorry…” With an easy laugh, he kissed her forehead.

“Yes, sorry about that. A report from a vassal in Momoyama took longer than I expected. And I didn’t want to bother you if you were preparing for the night.” He looked away, slightly embarrassed. It wasn’t a habit of his to be overwhelmed by work. He would always make sure she was informed of his whereabouts.

She snickered at his apologetic tone and behavior. Absentmindedly, she brushed his hazel bangs to the side. He hummed softly, appreciating the feeling. She continued with running her fingers on his scalp. “You know it wouldn’t have bothered me at all! When will you get in that pretty head of yours that what makes me happy is to spend time with you? And that I want you to rely on me more, just like the others rely on you?” Her lips were trembling by the end of her sentence.

Without thinking twice about it, Hideyoshi kissed her. It was incredibly loving and sweet at first until he felt her respond more hungrily. A shared whimper, and that’s all it took to make him lose his mind this early in the morning. He pulled away for a brief moment, a hand caressing her cheek while the other found its way to the small of her back, bringing their bodies impossibly closer. “It’s dangerous to kiss me like that, you know? Did you do that on purpose or..?”

A devilish grin appeared on her face. She winked at him flirtatiously, not breaking eye contact. “So what if I did, Hideyoshi? What do you intend to do then, hmm?” She traced his jawline, traitorously slowly.

The look in his honey-colored eyes damn near killed his lover. Love, lust, passion. She bit her bottom lip, faking a coy smile.

Next thing she knew, his hands were all over her body hurriedly disrobing her. His lips were ravaging hers, then her neck, her chest, and eagerly going lower.

The sensations were too overwhelming to be expressed by words. She instead gripped the back of his head to keep him in place, not caring if the moans slipping out of her mouth were too loud. “Hideyoshi…” Her voice was a strangled whisper, contrasting with the earlier noises. He hummed slightly, his tongue working its magic between her legs.

Within a few minutes, the man had her squirming underneath him. A final lick and a kiss were enough to send her over the edge, drowning in absolute pleasure.

When Hideyoshi pulled away, she was lying still and panting. He looked up to meet her half-lidded gaze, a satisfied grin lighting up his handsome face. Her messy hair was spread on the pillow, forming a halo around her head. “How can you be so breathtaking this early?” He shifted to pull her into his embrace. “I’m so lucky to have you.”

She chuckled, her fingers drawing nonsensical patterns on his exposed chest. “And I’m lucky to have you, Hideyoshi.” She was smiling so bright her cheeks were hurting. Then, something seemed to strike her and her eyes widened. “You’re going to be late for war council!”

It was his turn to laugh. “They’ll manage just fine. It’s my birthday after all.”

He tightened his hold on her, as if he were afraid to let her go. She entangled her legs with his, burying her face in his chest. “Happy birthday! I love you, Hideyoshi…”

“And I love you too. So so much…”

Her words were slightly muffled, but he heard them nonetheless. “And I’ll return the favor tonight, after the banquet of course.”

Hideyoshi smiled to himself, already looking forward to it.
