SFX prosthetic chest FAILTop left: Fake/Real chest comparison. Bottom left: Attaching Chest (Titting about), Right: Aftermath make-up (Before Blood).
The scene called for a stabbing shot in which the camera would move from the victims face down to her chest as a knife slowly cuts into her body and all done in one shot so I made a fake chest to be stabbed with a knife. Filmed from certain angles you shouldn’t be able to tell its not the models real chest being stabbed. Problem was that the knife wasn’t sharp enough to pierce the t-shirt and with no pressure pushing the blood out the fake blood didn’t soak into the wound fast enough. Basically I balls’ed up :-p But I have learnt my lesson, the next short will be a Freaking Blood Bath!
The Make
Made from insulating foam and filled with blood bags. Sheet metal along the back purely for safety, I really didn’t want to actually murder the model :-P
