From the same author and studio as Elfen Lied. I thought the anime was off to a great start...its a shame that the last couple of episodes ended up being such a mess. Compressing 100 chapters into 13 episodes was probably too much, and lossy compression at that.Other paintings:

It is possibly funny though that the concept of powerful witches who should be reclassified as liches was used by both the author of brynhildr of the darkness and gen orbachi, the author of madoka magica
