Description A former private investigator, Kenneth Doyle's life was rocked hard when his wife, Linda, left him and his teenage daughter after she was revealed to be a Superhuman. After this, he found himself subconsciously blaming the Superhuman gene for his wife's leaving him, and began to show prejudice against them. He even eventually had Linda declared legally dead after enough time had passed, creating friction with his daughter. He would ultimately cause Cassie to estrange herself from him years later, when he even found himself working for Mayor Alfonso to help get Superhumans off the streets of Star Lake. However, unknown to Cassie, he had actually joined to infiltrate Fonzie's circle, aware that this was just a ruse to abduct Superhumans for Solution, and using his anti-Superhuman stance as a means to make Alfonso trust him while making his way up as high as he could so that he could bring them down from the inside. He'd also long guessed that his daughter was none other than Starslip, and while it shook how he felt about her, he would never betray her for real, only keeping his own double-life a secret in retribution for her doing the same to him. Eventually, he did manage to remove Alfonso from power. However, because her influence was so great, it required someone else to assume her role in order to keep Star Lake from burning itself down. In the end, Kenneth would take control himself, doing his best to slowly restore Star Lake to a point where it wouldn't need him. Unfortunately, he would never see his dream to fruition, as he died while putting an end to Star Lake's greatest nightmare, Doctor Witch.

Welcome back to #allnew52starverse , wherein we take a lot of the elements of dark reboots and relaunches in comic books and apply them to my characters as a means of demonstrating why they're not so great. In this case, we have Kenneth Doyle, firm supporter of his daughter's endeavors, now a burnt out, jaded, overprotective, and xenophobic individual who only helps through infiltrating the villains' circle and aiding them in areas as a means to keep their guard down. I hope I don't have to explain why that's problematic. There's not really anything specific I'm parodying in this case, just showing the usual darkening of characters done with reboots like the New 52. And admittedly, while I can't think of anyone specific who has this exact change, it would fit a bit too well with the general aesthetic of that reboot. Oh, and if you think the darkening of his and Starslip's backstories are dark NOW, just wait until I get to Doctor Witch and you find out exactly who she is.

As usual, I created this using Hero Machine 3 , and if you'd like to see more of my creations on HM3, click this link: www.deviantart.com/jyger85/gal…
